Each tree planted will absorb around one tonne of CO2 by the time it reaches maturity (about 100 years). Of course some trees can survive for hundreds of years so will go on to absorb CO2 as long as it is alive. One tonne of CO2 is the equivalent of one person travelling on holiday to Portugal and did you know that the average family car emits around 4 tonnes of CO2 every year - you would need to plant four trees every year just to off-set this.
