Direct Doors
Background
Direct Doors originally started as The Door Centre Ltd, formed in 1987 with the sole aim of allowing customers to have a one stop shop for all items relating to doors.
When Mercurytide developed the Directdoors.com web site, the business took a completely different direction and helped to increase sales by well over 400%! This allowed The Door Centre to close their branches and dedicate themselves entirely too online sales via the Directdoors.com web site. They have recently opened a new distribution depot in Cambridgeshire to help with the huge demand on the Edinburgh depot.
Our approach
We wanted to allow users to specify sizes, buy interior and exterior doors, frames, fittings and finishes with the greatest of ease while also supplying them with DIY advice. This was achieved by designing a simple step by step process to eventually arrive at the shopping basket with the bespoke door created to the customer's own specifications. Thousands of users find this online service convenient and easy to use.
Mercurytide didn't stop there though. As part of our Performance Audit service we constantly looked for ways to improve the usability, graphic design and above all search engine optimisation of the site which has led to an increase of thousands of extra visits per month to the Directdoors.com web site.
Mike Froude
Managing Director - Direct DoorsI first encountered Mercurytide in 2002, we were searching for a company with enthusiasm, knowledge and a "can do" attitude, they have always been excellent at taking a proactive approach, they don't just set it up and say "there you go", I have to say though that if you want it to be successful you must be prepared to put in the work at your end, the results, lets just say that I have seen this web site grow from £60k a year to a substantial seven figure sum, we have now opened a distribution centre in Cambridge and have commissioned MT to develop a new site, we will also be asking them to do a further two sites over the next two years. I know this begins to sound like an advert for them but genuinely you will not get better, remember, it does always take longer than you would like to get the site up and running and then more time to iron out glitches, it will also give you some headaches as far as growing the site but give it your best shot and it will be worthwhile, go for it.
